Visit to San Gimignano

Paolo and Lorain took me to the most beautiful little city today called San Gimignano (near Siena)This area produces the famous Chiante wine and the best olive oil in the world!
Notice Paolo's lovely new purse!

Talk about becoming nostalgic! The beautiful stone buildings, stone streets, ice cream stores and, of course, the girls in the quaint dresses remind me so much of our time in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany. Katie, you fit right in!

Are the wheels of the car held on with only three lug nuts? Once, while leaving Italy and heading toward Nice, France, with Chris and her mom, we were zipping along on the winding roads in our 1972 BMW 2002 feeling like kings of the road. Then, well behind me, a blaze of lights appeared. I kept the pedal to the metal and rushed through the hairpin turns sure to leave the light behind but it not only kept up but gained on me. A long story short, the car passed me going through a very sharp set of S-turns while on only two wheels. As the car passed, I noticed a duck painted on the door. As we entered a sleepy village further down the road to buy cheese and bread, I found the car. Amazing! Only three lugnuts holding the wheels on the car.

Wish we were there! I do not believe there is anything more romantic than the older villages in Euroope.
